✨ How do you put your well-being first? ✨
⭐ Sarah (Student):
University stress can certainly take a toll on my well-being, which is why I take extra good care of myself during semesters. I think one of the hardest parts about university life for me is that I’m already so drained from classes and assignments that finding the energy to do a billion extracurriculars just isn’t realistic! Over time, I’ve realised that it is only counterproductive if I push myself too hard, so I make sure to check in with myself regularly and take time to recharge. Even just a short break doing something unrelated to my studies can work wonders to refresh my mind from the stresses of deadlines.
⭐ Madeleine (Graduate):
I think it can be easy to forget about well-being and keep ploughing on with work, ignoring your needs. I have learnt the importance of taking quality breaks from work to regroup and allow myself to enjoy things that don’t involve work. After all, we are not our work. I have found that I feel a lot better for putting my well-being above anything else. This might mean taking time to relax and read a book, painting or drawing, or just watching one of my favourite programmes. I have also learnt that it’s important to not beat myself up for forgetting to do things that are good for my well-being, such as meditation or going for walks. As long as I pick them back up when I remember, I find that allowing myself to be flexible and being gentle with myself helps a lot.
